Members
will have heard the announcement today by Capita ITS that it is to
embark on a job loss programme across the Division as part of a cost
reduction initiative. Unite were engaged in the start of consultation
this morning in advance of the announcement and further consultation
meetings are planned throughout consultation period.
At
this stage it is difficult to measure the impact of Capita’s plans
as they are still at a formative stage but Unite estimate that up to
400 jobs could be vulnerable across ITS Division.
The
Off shoring of jobs is likely to have a significant impact on numbers
in Craigforth, Bournemouth, Glasgow, Reading, Cheltenham and
Quadrant Court/Wythall as Capita seek to lower costs and increase
profitability by expanding its Operation in India but at this stage
Unite are not in a position to put a figure on the number of jobs at
risk at each site.
This
will be a deeply unsettling time for Unite members in ITS. Your Reps
will continue to work hard to defend members’ interests, minimise
the number of redundancies and seek redeployment opportunities
wherever possible.
Unite
have also restated our policy of opposition to Compulsory
Redundancies and Off shoring and are not ruling out Industrial Action
to defend jobs.
Members
meetings will be called in due course at each impacted site and we
will continue to update you through out the consultation process.
In
the meantime please contact your Unite Senior Reps if with any
