Capita Industrial Action Ballot Results.

Unite members in Capita Life and Pensions and Capita IT services will have received the communication below today. Please note the communication here has been edited as the start date has been changed. A separate communication was sent to all members to advise of this.


Further to the formal confirmation yesterday of the ballot result where Unite members voted as follows;

Capita Life & Pensions
In Favour of Strike Action62% voted yes
In Favour of Action short of strike -78% voted yes

Turnout 45%

Capita IT Services
In Favour of Strike Action - 84% voted yes
In Favour of Action short of strike - 94% voted yes

Turnout 65%


Your Unite Reps have discussed the result and agreed for the Union to serve 7 days notice of industrial action on Capita Life&Pensions and IT Services yesterday afternoon. Unite are calling action short of strike from Tuesday the 23nd of July.

In Life and Pensions we are calling on members not to work overtime either paid, unpaid or Toil. This includes being at your desk at your allocated start time and not before, taking a full lunch/rest breaks and leaving the office immediately on your contractual finish time.

In IT Services, Unite are also calling on members not to work overtime either paid, unpaid or Toil and also to withdraw from evening and weekend "on call" cover. 
A full Q&A document will follow on this.

Clearly the Union also has a mandate to call strike action but your Reps want to give Capita every opportunity to return to the negotiating table to address your concerns on Performance Management and pay increases and the decision on when strike action will be called is under review. Ultimately its now up to Capita to return to the the table to try and find a way to resole the dispute. Unite have made it clear that we have no objection to talks at ACAS if that is what's required to resolve matters, but have had no response yet from either Capita L&P or ITS.
It is now time for members to back your Union if we are to ensure that Capita pay policy has any credibility in future and that pay awards don't see the vast majority being forced to take a cut in their standard of living year in year out.

Only by standing together can we send a clear message to Capita. Non members can join Unite to take part in the action.

Capita Industrial Action Ballot update


Following the consultative ballots in CLPS and ITS which closed on Friday May 31st, the results are:




CLPS

In favour of industrial action ballot        73%

Not in favour of industrial action ballot       27%

Turnout 53%



IT SERVICES

In favour of industrial action ballot        97%

Not in favour of industrial action ballot         3%

Turnout 77%
